Chapter 3 Assessment

I thought the easiest task was finding the number of schools within a NCAA division bracket. I enjoyed having a partner, I felt we worked well together and got through the assignment without much trouble. I think that I would rather have done it alone and had fewer or more concise questions, I have a personal issue with the fact that my grade can be affected by the actions of another student. I think it was a mostly fair assessment of chapter three, but for something that will be graded as test the questions were very vague and rather obscure, simple things like asking about the next special Olympics in Massachusetts without defining what type be it a special Olympic event or a World wide Olympic event.

Athlete's Charity Work

One of example of a pro sport athlete doing charitable work is Patrice Bergeron. Bergeron a center for the Boston Bruins is involved in many community events but most notably his charity Patrice’s Pals. Patrice’s Pals brings  patients from local hospitals and other children's organizations to the TD Garden to experience a Bruins home game where these children are able to experience a Professional Hockey Game as VIP guest. Each of Patrice’s Pals goes to a game and is in a luxury suite with a complimentary dinner, they are given Bruin’s memorabilia gift bags, and Patrice personally meets every one of them to sign autographs for them and to get to meet them in person.

The event helps give the team good PR because Bergeron pays for the children to go to the game. This event is beneficial to the team because it shows the compassionate side of the Boston Bruins and makes more people want to go see a game when the team is supporting children who are in hospitals. This is beneficial for the children because it offers them the chance to see a professional hockey game in person that they may not ever have the chance to do otherwise.
